Veined Marble

marmo venato

Veined marble is therefore characterized by streaks that stand out on the homogeneous background of the stone surface called marble veins. The veining of marble, however, is not always the same but on the contrary the veins can differ from each other in color, direction, trend, thickness; furthermore the marble veins can be more or less marked or more or less dense.

Depending on the type of marble veining, there are consequently different veined marbles. The main types of veining to categorize veined marbles are the following:

  • Linear veining: these are long marble veinings with continuous, unidirectional and sometimes bifurcated patterns.
  • Tree-shaped marble veining: the opposite of linear veinings as in this case the marble veinings are multidirectional and do not follow a coherent pattern but appear more like a branching.
  • Brecciated marble veining: these marble veinings appear as if thick dark materials surrounded islands of empty and clean spaces.
Brocaded marble veining: similar to brecciated marble veining but with smaller fragments.

As we well know, white and crystalline marble has been considered the marble par excellence for centuries and is still the most desired today due to its pure white color and free from impurities. However, there has been a progressive increase in requests for veined marbles, even in the presence of more particular veinings and chromatic traits.

Veined marble, on the other hand, is by its very nature the most suitable for highlighting the uniqueness of the stone and its unique and unrepeatable patterns. Furthermore, the veining of veined marble is able to successfully confer movement and dynamism to the environment in which it is inserted like no other type of marble.
