Blue de Savoie marble is a French marble with a characteristic grey-blue color and veiled white veins. The mining history of blue de Savoie French marble is very long: the Romans already extracted this stone and in fact used it to build a road through the Rhone valley.
The extraction of blue Savoie marble takes place in a single quarry located in Aime-la-Plagne in Haute-Savoie. Coming from a single quarry, the quantity of blue de Savoie marble extracted is very limited; however, based on the area and height of extraction, blue de Savoie marble slabs can also have very different shades.
Blue de Savoie marble is a precious stone, dense, homogeneous and with a very fine crystalline grain. The color goes very well being a neutral color, specifically a gray with shades of blue and subtle and balanced veins. Blue de Savoie marble tile also have good resistance and this is why it is also installed in outdoor contexts or where regular foot traffic is expected. Polishing and honing are the most appreciated and most suitable finishes for blue de Savoie marble, the perfect stone material for covering refined bathrooms or precious floors.
