marmo di orosei

Marmo di Orosei is undoubtedly the most important stone extracted in Sardinia both for the quantity of product extracted and for the extension of the extraction area. Marmo di Orosei is so famous that it is known by a multitude of different names: among the most common we find Breccia Sarda, Daino Reale, Daino Imperiale and marmo Biancone di Orosei. In general, we can say that the term Marmo di Orosei is the most common name in Italy while on the international market the product is better known under the name of Daino Reale.
Beyond the terminology, whether you need to create a warm atmosphere in a rustic setting, or whether you need to cover a Nordic-style or contemporary-designed attic, Marmo di Orosei can be the solution in both cases.
Formed in the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, Orosei marble is a beige-colored limestone whose extraction began in the 1960s on the eastern coast of Sardinia, and in particular on the quarries of Mount Tuttavista (800 meters above sea level) in the municipality of Orosei.

Marmo di Orosei is a sedimentary rock more precisely categorized as biopelsparite, i.e. a calcareous rock composed of fossil debris and small deposits of animal origin immersed in granular calcite. In other words, fossils, algae, shells and minerals crystallized creating a spectacular mosaic of tiny fossils, sedimentary encrustations and quartz crystals.
In chromatic terms, the final result is a beige marble with an abundant presence of darker colored intrusions. What makes marmo bianco di Orosei so appreciated is in fact its overall tonality ranging from beige to hazelnut and cream, embellished with veins of onyx and calcite laminates with a darker color.
But the other reason why marmo di Orosei is so appreciated in the world are its technical characteristics such as the excellent ductility and the characteristic brightness but above all for its versatility. Marmo di Orosei, in fact, has the prerogative of being able to be installed in the most diverse contexts, adapting perfectly to the mood of the environment in which it is placed and always enhancing its elegant and welcoming style.
Among the most popular materials among world-famous architects, marmo di Orosei is used above all for the creation of kitchen countertops, bathroom tops, both internal and external flooring and coverings, window sills, stairs and thresholds in Orosei marble.
