Marble coverings are, without a doubt, beautiful complementary pieces of furnishing which transport us into an authentic and historical dimension. In contemporary design, marble tiles, as well as for floors, are often used to cover various rooms in the home such as the living room, the bathroom and the kitchen, in a simple and linear way. In addition to the cutting and selling of classic slabs and tiles, our designers have gone beyond this two-dimensional use of this natural stone and have designed a line of marble coverings with three-dimensional textures and finishes.
Bringing marble back to sculptural and three-dimensional age is the philosophy that has always characterised Dedalo Stone’s products. In this case, as with our other products, we have designed coverings with clean and geometric lines that stimulate our visual and tactile senses, differentiating themselves from most standard marble floors. The decorations on our tiles are inspired by the natural elements such as wind and water. Each design can be combined with different types of available marble and natural stone, creating various visual effects.
Internal marble coverings are used to furnish any setting. The classic trend is to have marble cladding in bathrooms and showers. We prefer to use lighter coloured stone as it adds brightness to the room making it cozy and elegant. White Carrara marble, Crema Luna and Travertine are all such lighter coloured stones which produce an optical effect that makes the space seem wider.
In the kitchen, marble tiles are often integrated with the countertop and sink. This produces a pleasant and refined visual continuity with the furnishing.
External marble cladding has been used for centuries to cover the facades of houses and important buildings, it stands the test of time. A external marble wall conveys a luxurious elegance with historic roots. There is a wide range of marbles available for outdoor installation. Travertine, together with other lighter coloured marbles, is historically the most used cladding material.
Considering the effect of the atmosphere and the elements, it is possible to carry out some protective treatments aimed at making the surface of the marble walls and floors less porous. They can already be supplied polished, honed, brushed, antiqued or any other type of finish.
Marble tiles for internal or external flooring are highly regarded for their resistance and aesthetic appeal. The colours and shades of every marble tile, depending on the choice of stone, are varied thus giving a touch of uniqueness to each building.
To match the marble flooring to the style and design of the house we can personalise each project by carefully choosing the correct stone finish, the most suitable tile size and the pattern or inlays of the flooring.
We can meet even the most varied tastes of our clients. An extremely refined and impressive way of laying the marble tiles for either cladding or flooring is to ‘Bookmatch’ the various tiles.
Bookmatching is the process of matching the original veins of the marble or stone tiles so that, when laid, they mirror each other thus creating continuos lines and giving the impression of an open book.
For interior marble floors more delicate stones can be used, as they are not subject to the wear and tear of the elements and atmosphere. Choosing marble for the exterior, however, is a slightly more delicate matter. Porous and fragile stones, if necessary, should be finished with surface treatments aimed at closing these pores thus reducing porosity and making the marble surface more uniform.
Carrara marble floors are among the most popular but coloured stones are also often used.
And every other material upon customer request.
